‘Urban Development Department denying information' BANGALORE: The Janata Dal(S) has threatened to stage a protest in front of the office of the Principal Secretary, Urban Development, here on Wednesday for allegedly denying information to the party on various issues under the Right to Information Act. Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, Janata Dal(S) Legislature Party leader H.D. Revanna said that he had submitted 30 applications to the State Information Commission seeking information on various issues, including de-notification of land by Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa. But the Urban Development Department has been denying information to 17 applications under the RTI Act stating that the files concerned were pending at the Chief Minister's office, he claimed. Mr. Revanna alleged that the Government has been denying information on property-related issues to him and the Janata Dal(S) has decided to oppose it by staging the protest in front of the Urban Development Department. On the Government allegations that the former Prime Minister, Deve Gowda's daughters got sachet supply contract from Karnataka Milk Federation and caused about Rs. 2.13 crore loss, Mr. Revanna, a former KMF chairman, rejected the charge as “baseless” and dared the BJP Government to conduct an inquiry into it. Labour Minister B.N. Bache Gowda on Monday alleged that Mr. Deve Gowda's two daughters were awarded the contract to supply milk sachets to KMF by Mr. Revanna when he was the chairman of that body from 1997 to 2001.
