Kanhangad: Days after the arrest of the prime accused in the burglary of 15 kg gold ornaments from Rajadhani jewellery showroom in the city, police on Friday arrested two more accused in the case. C. Abdul Naushad, 25, a native of Cherpulassery in Palakkad district, and a local person Raveendran, 36, an auto driver, were arrested by a team led by Kanhangad DySP Jossy Cheriyan. The police were on the lookout for Naushad after the arrest of the prime accused, Latheef, 25, on November 28, Mr. Cheriyan told a press conference here. A police team had picked up Naushad from Bangalore, where he was engaged in petty business. Naushad's confession, in turn, led to the arrest of Raveendran, he said. Modus operandi The accused had made a hole on the wall of the adjacent electronic shop, which remained closed on Vishu day. The next day, Bhaskaran, the owner of the electronic shop, was asked to stay at home by Raveendran, his acquaintance, who said he had arranged for the installation of an inverter at the former's residence at Bandadukka that day. The crime was committed by the trio by gaining entry into the jewellery showroom through the hole when its employees had gone for the Friday prayers in a nearby mosque, closing the shop, Mr. Cheriyan said. The investigation team included Kanhangad Circle Inspector K. Ashraf and DySP of Kasaragod K. Vikraman. Some gold found The police had so far recovered 6.641 kg gold pledged in various banks and were in the process of recovering the remaining valuables, Mr. Ashraf said.
