Stop discrimination against State: MP
Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI: CPI Tenkasi MP P. Lingam has urged Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee to intervene in the issue of discrimination by the Railways against Tamil Nadu wherein the seats and quota allotted for Coimbatore had been cut down owing to the extension of Bangalore-Coimbatore inter-city express to Ernakulam.
The number of reserved tickets to Coimbatore in the train had come down drastically, whereas for Kerala cities the ticket quota had increased rapidly, Mr. Lingam said in a memorandum to the Minister. “Some of the Southern Railway officers are purportedly indulging in such mischief against Tamil Nadu based passengers,” he said. He also sought for a stoppage at Coimbatore for Kannur-Yeshwantpura (Bangalore) express.
