‘Congress will give priority to youth in polls'
Staff Correspondent
Bijapur: Bijapur District Congress Committee president Sharanappa Sunagar has said that the party will give priority to youth in the zilla and taluk panchayat elections.
Addressing presspersons here on Friday, he said that the Congress has always dominated in the zilla panchayat elections in Bijapur district and this time too the party will win more than 30 seats of the 38 zilla panchayat seats in the district.
Party ticket
Though there is competition for Congress ticket, the party leaders would select suitable candidates after assessing their performance and ability to respond favourably to the problems of voters in their areas.
Convention
The party has made preparations for a convention scheduled on December 12 at Darbar High School Grounds to protest against the land scam, violation of norms by Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa in allotting ‘G' category sites and increasing corruption in the State.
The main intention is to create awareness among people on how the BJP Government in the State is misguiding people and looting their hard earned money. It would also highlight how the BJP is trying to woo rural voters by implementing the Bhagyalakshmi scheme to distribute saris.
