Workshop on digital library software

KOZHIKODE: The Indian Institute of Management-Kozhikode (IIM-K) will organise an international workshop on UNESCO's open source ‘Greenstone' digital library software on its campus at Kunnamangalam here from December 13 to 17.

Debashis Chatterjee, Director, IIM-K, will inaugurate the workshop.

About 25 participants, including delegates from the Philippines, will take part in the five-day seminar.

M.G. Srikumar, UNESCO Coordinator and Greenstone Support for South Asia and Head Librarian of IIM-K, said the participants at the workshop would be given advanced training on using design digital collections of different publications in a variety of file formats, including multimedia such as audio, video and images.

They will also undertake assignments to design a small prototype of a library information system containing diverse type of material, he said.

The ‘Greenstone' is an internationally renowned software system for developing digital libraries.
