Shops closed for lack of parking

Rule violated:Commercial outlets sealed for violation of rules at Ameerpet on Saturday. —

HYDERABAD: GHMC and Traffic police officials took up a drive against commercial establishments not having adequate parking spaces in the busy areas of Ameerpet, Sanjeevareddynagar and Balkampet here on Saturday.

A Foodworld outlet, a bakery, a café and a few other eat-outs were ordered ‘shut' by the officials for lack of parking space.

A notice was also issued to a Reliance Fresh outlet asking it to make provision for parking of vehicles for the visitors. Officials said that the drive was taken up following directions from the High Court and Lok Ayukta to crack down on commercial establishments with little or no parking provisions.

A few months ago, the GHMC and Traffic police in a joint inspection identified 188 commercial establishments, including malls and hospitals, and served notices on them. A few months time was also given to them to make provision for the parking or face action, including closure, added officials.
