Indian Open Grand Prix from Dec. 14

HYDERABAD: Saina Nehwalhas been given the top billing in the Indian Open Grand Prix badminton championship to be held at the Kotla Vijaya Bhaskara Reddy stadium here from December 14 to 19.

The event, which carries a prize money of US $50,000, is being held in the memory of former National champion Syed Modi with the qualifying rounds scheduled from Tuesday.

Doordarshan will telecast live the knock-out phase of the championship from December 17 to 19.

Men's singles: 1. Hayom Dionysius Rumbaka (Ina), 2. Chetan Anand (Ind), 3. Parupalli Kashyap (Ind), 4. Alamsyah Yunus (Ina), 5. Ajay Jayaram (Ind), 6. Andre Kurniawan Tedjono (Ina), 7. Arvind Bhat, 8. R.M.V. Guru Sai Dutt.

Women's singles: 1. Saina Nehwal (Ind), 2. Maria Febe Kusumastuti (Ina), 3. Adrianti Firdasari (Ina), 4. Jeanine Cicognini (Sui), 5. Fransiska Ratnasari (Ind), 6. Aditi Mutatkar (Ind), 7. Nichaon Jindapon (Tha), 8. Trupti Murgunde (Ind) .
