This Day That Age
Mr. V. Munuswami, Mayor, on December 13 emphasised the desirability of setting up a statutory board on the lines of the State Electricity Board to tackle the problem of protected water supply in Madras City. The Mayor told Pressmen in this connection that the scheme of securing water supply from the River Cauvery should be implemented immediately though it might entail huge capital outlay. He said the scheme would not only ensure adequate supply of water to the City but about 125 major and minor towns en route would also benefit and could be asked to share the expenditure with the Madras Corporation.
