KOLKATA: Unfancied city-based team MMRMC held the centre-stage to grab the lead after two sessions of the pre-quarterfinal league of the Ruia Gold Cup in the 52nd winter National bridge at the Netaji Indoor Stadium here on Monday. The MMRMC team — represented by P.K Bera, Swapan Ghosh, W.P Kaviraj, Sambhunath Ghosh, Biswajit Poddar and Satyabrata Mukherjee — had 45 victory points (VPs). They were followed closely by another local side — Maharaja B — which had 44.93 VPs. Team Sunil Machhar of Mumbai was closely following with 44.48 VPs. The leader in the first two days — Formidables from Delhi — and holder Railways slipped to sixth and seventh spots with 43.96 and 43.33 VPs. In the Ruia Silver Cup another lesser known local team — Konnagar — led the field with 78.31 VPs. — Principal Correspondent
