Easy for Arumugam CC

Coimbatore: S. Dinesh Kumar hit an unbeaten 65 in Arumugam Cricket Club's seven-wicket win over Suryabala Cricketers in the TNCA-CDCA second division league for the Unidriveline Trophy at the TNAU grounds here on Sunday.

In a fourth division match, a fine knock of 133 by K. Ramesh and a six-wicket haul by R. Adithya enabled Rainbow Wizards CC score a convincing 228-run win over Karpagam University.

The scores: Second division: Suryabala Cricketers 128 in 33 overs (K.M. Suresh 37, S. Rajesh 35 not out, C. Ashok three for 28) lost to Arumugam CC 129 for three in 26 overs (S. Dinesh Kumar Kumar 65 not out, K. Hafeezullah 30, S. Zaheer three for 20); Wings CC 158 in 49.1 overs (T. Gopinath 50, Santosh 30, V.S. Rajan four for 23) bt Red Diamond CC 144 for eight in 50 overs (S. Vivek 31, P. Ayyappan three for 27).

Fourth division: Rainbow Wizards CC 342 for seven in 50 overs (K. Ramesh 133, R. Manikandan 63, R. Rajiv 40, R. Niranjan three for 78) bt Karpagam University 114 in 24.4 overs (R. Adithya six for 35, M. Mohanraj three for 28); Miracle CC 226 for eight in 50 overs (Principal Singh 55, Francis Nelson 66) bt ABT CC 111 in 36.3 overs (M. Prajeesh three for 5) .

Inter-collegiate cricket

The second inter-collegiate tournament for colleges in Coimbatore and Tirupur districts, organised by the Coimbatore District Cricket Association, will be held at various venues next January.

Match drawn

New Venus Football and CSI Bishop Appasamy College of Arts and Science played to a one-all draw in the CDFA second division football league at the Nehru Stadium on Monday.

The results: S. Telecom FC 2 (Mendez 2) bt Sara Elgi SC 1 (Damian Rodriques); New Venus FC 1 (Apaks) drew with CSI Bishop Appasamy CAS 1 (Paul Nelson) .

KPM, Jayalakshmi clinch titles

KPM (Podanur) and Jayalakshmi BBC wrested the men's and women's title in the district-level ball badminton tournament recently.

The results (final): Men: KPM (Podanur) bt Soya Sakthi (Cbe) 29-28, 29-27. Women: Jayalakshmi BBC (Cbe) bt Alvernia 29-9, 29-16 .

Big win for New Star

At Udhagamandalam, opening batsman K. Arun hammered an unbeaten 124 and left-arm medium pacer A. Sundaramoorthy picked five for 18 as New Star Cricket Club defeated Green City Cricket Club by 171 runs in the TNCA-NDCA second division league for the A.R. Rajoo Gowder Memorial Rolling Trophy at the Lawrence School grounds on Monday.

The scores: New Star CC 269 for eight in 40 overs (K. Arun 124 not out, M. Prakash 44) bt Green City CC 98 (A. Sundaramoorthy five for 18, N. Manikandan three for 18); Rising Stars CC 227 (V. Niju 66, I. Hakkim 40, B. vijay 34 not out, L. Prabhu three for 38) bt Mechanics CC 77 (B. Vijay three for 17, M. Ubaid three for 22); ‘A' Classic CC 77 (S. Saravanan three for 16) lost to All Stars CC 78 for three in 14 overs (J. Charles 34) .

Bradman CC wins

At Namakkal, Bradman Cricket Club posted a 53-run win over NKCC in the TNCA-DCAN first division league at the SPB Colony grounds on Sunday.

The scores: First division: Bradman CC 189 for nine in 35 overs (Maivel 63, Srinivasan 30, S. Ilayaraja three for 31) bt NKCC 136 for nine in 35 overs (Gopi 41, Maivel three for 18, Ravikumar three for 16).

Second division: Century CC 168 in 35 overs (N. Gowthaman 54, A. Nowshad 44, S. Kannan four for 25, Arun three for 26) bt AVM CC 83 in 18.5 overs .
