HYDERABAD: The Assembly remained in turmoil for the third day on Monday over the issue of students against whom cases were booked during the pro-Telangana and united AP agitations besides the plight of farmers affected by the recent heavy rains. Deputy Speaker N. Manohar adjourned the House at least five times in his efforts to pacify the agitated members of TRS, TDP and Praja Rajyam. However, in spite of the trouble, Home Minister P. Sabitha Indra Reddy made a statement on withdrawal of cases booked against students of all regions during agitations for and against Telangana and introduction of a Bill by Finance Minister A. Ramanarayan Reddy. She announced that 565 simple cases were withdrawn against 2,436 persons. Not satisfied with the government's response, TRS members rushed to the podium, seeking withdrawal of all cases booked against the Telangana students. The Praja Rajyam members moved into the well demanding justice to farmers, while the TDP members supported withdrawal of cases in all regions and sought justice for farmers. Congress legislators, led by R. Damodar Reddy, held aloft placards with the demand that all cases filed against Telangana students be withdrawn and “not a few” as announced earlier by the Home Minister.
