Lokayukta takes up ‘pit case'

BANGALORE: Taking exception to the alleged negligence of the civic authorities that almost led to the drowning of a Class 10 boy in an open pit on Hayes Road here recently, the Lokayukta has suo motu taken up the case and ordered an investigation. “The Lokayukta is of the view that there is lack of coordination between Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) in carrying out works related to laying of supply mains, construction of manholes and repair of roads,” according to a statement from the Lokayukta.

The Lokayukta has written to BWSSB Chairman and Commissioner of BBMP in the matter and notices have been issued to the engineers concerned, calling for their reports on the matter.
