Anirudh shines

CHENNAI: R. Anirudh's five-wicket haul helped Krishnaraj RC to chalk out an 85-run win over Adambakkam CC in a first division match of the TNCA-Kancheepuram DCA league held recently.

The scores:

I div: Krishnaraj RC 185 for seven in 45 overs (Prabu 66, R. Srinivasan 63, Lakshminarayanan four for 44) bt Adambakkam CC 100 in 31.4 overs (R. Anirudh five for 28).

II div: Fine Star CC 130 for six in 30 overs lost to Leo CC 131 for four in 24.2 overs (N.D. Sunil Kumar 44).

Blue Bird CC 82 in 28.1 overs (S. Sanjay five for 18) lost to Rane Engine Valves RC 83 for three in 16.4 overs.

Volleyball championship

The senior division league championship for men and women conducted by the Chennai District Volleyball Association will be held from December 26 to January 12 at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium. The championship is sponsored by SRM University.

The teams:

Men: Indian Overseas Bank, Chennai Customs, Indian Bank, Southern Railway, SDAT, ICF, Sathyabama University, Panimalar Engineering College, BSNL and Tamil Nadu Police.

Women: Dr. Sivanthi Club, GKM Club, St. Joseph's College of Engineering, Tamil Nadu Police, SRM University, SDAT, Vels University, Panimalar College of Engineering, KCG Technology and Nedungadu Club.

Apart from the rolling trophy presented by the SRM University, there will be a cash prize totalling Rs. 2,00,000. M. Tamizh Vendan, IRS, Chairman, Organising Committee, and A.K. Chitrapandian, Secretary, are overseeing the arrangements for the conduct of the championship.
