BANGALORE: The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) paid rich tributes to veteran producer, director, cinematographer and studio and laboratory owner B.S. Ranga here on Tuesday.

Recalling her long association with Ranga, who died in Chennai on Sunday at the age of 94, veteran actor B. Sarojadevi said it was inspiring and educating to see all the family members of the late filmmaker get involved in the process of filmmaking.

Ms. Sarojadevi said she had the privilege of acting in some of the Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi films produced and directed by him. It was a great honour to act in the first Kannada colour film Amarashilpi Jakanachari produced and directed by Ranga. However, Ranga could not get due importance in Karnataka, she said.

Ms. Sarojadevi urged the State Government to institute an award after Ranga.

Veteran distributor K.V. Gupta said Ranga was known for his discipline and diligence not only in filmmaking but also in business dealings.

President of the KFCC Basanthkumar Patil, producer S.A. Chinne Gowda, and S.R. Govindu were among those who spoke on the life and achievements of Ranga.
