International theatre festival from December 22

THRISSUR: The Third International Theatre Festival of Kerala (ITFoK-2010) will be held here from December 22 to 31. The festival will feature productions of troupes from Chile, Bolivia, Mexico, Spain, Cuba, Japan, Russia and the U.K.

The contemporary world theatre section comprises ‘El Husar dela Muerte' (Chile/director: Martin Erazo); ‘En Un Sol Amarillo' (Bolivia/Cesar Brie); ‘Sysiphus Rock' (Chile/Elias Cohen); ‘Laurencia' (Mexico/Eugenia Cano Puga); ‘Tales of the Body' (Spain/Tomeu Gomila); ‘Vision of Cubanosofia' (Cuba/Nelda Castillo); ‘La Loba' (India-Columbia/Jairo Vereara Fruto); ‘Santa Maria de Iquique' (Chile/Manuel Layola); ‘Pueta Peralta' (Chile/Maria Paz and Francisca); ‘Ugetsu Monogatari' (Japan/Madoka Okada); ‘Petersburg's Masks' (Russia/Nikola Belyak); ‘The Bitter Belief of Cotrone the Magician' (U.K./Andrea Cusumano) and ‘Las Indias' (Latino-India co-production; Elias Cohen).

The plays in the contemporary Indian theatre section are ‘Strange Lines' (director: Amitesh Grover/New Delhi); ‘Pedro Paramo' (Firoz Khan/New Delhi); ‘Quick Death' (Sankar Venkiteswaran/Kerala); ‘Samnadraba Mami' (H. Tomba/Manipur); ‘Te Pudhe Gele' (Makarand Sathe/Maharashtra); and ‘To Poidam' (Sukracharjya Rabha/Assam).

The Malayalam plays to be staged include ‘Yaksikathakalum Nattuvarthamanangalum' (director: K. Vinod Kumar); ‘Factory' (A. Santhakumar); ‘Nritham' (M. Vinod and N. Binod); ‘Bommanahalliyile Kinnara Yogi' (Chandradasan); ‘Anungalillatha Pennungal' (C.V. Sudhi); ‘Marimankanni' (V. Abhimanyu).
