Arrests lead to seizure of cash, gold

Bangalore: The Central Crime Branch police arrested four men in connection with several cases of robbery and extortion over the past one month and confiscated property worth Rs. 60 lakh from them.

The police recovered Rs. 2 lakh in cash and Rs. 28lakh-worth gold and silver ornaments from E. Manjunath alias Manju alias Kalkere Manja (27) of Kadasiddana Palya near Tavarekere, and his associate R. Rajendra alias Raju (44) from Vrishabhavathi Nagar near Kamakshipalya.

The accused were wanted in nearly 60 cases of theft and burglary.

The Homicide and Burglary Squad officials of Central Crime Branch arrested Jagan alias Jagannath in connection with the jewellery heist from the Muthoot Finance branch at New Thippasandra and recovered gold worth Rs. 15 lakh from him.

The same squad arrested Vasanth Salian and seized Rs. 15 lakh-worth ornaments stolen from Chemmanur Jewellers here in 2008 from him.

Arrested

A gang of six armed men landed in the police net when they were allegedly waiting to rob pedestrians near K.K. Junction here on Sunday night.

High Grounds police have confiscated lethal weapons, a toy pistol, seven mobile phones and a car from the arrested.

They are Tausif Baig (20), Mehboob Pasha (26), Wasim Khan (20), Ibrahim (26), Rehamat Ulla (28) and Yusuf Pasha (22), residents of Valmikinagar and Padarayanapura.

Tip-off

Based on a tip-off, a police team raided a place and arrested the accused, police sources said.
