Karnataka advances

Karnataka circle downed defending champion Gujarat in four sets to set up a final tilt against Tamil Nadu in the semifinals of the 26th edition of the All India Postal volleyball tournament here.

Karnataka played an improved game in the third and fourth sets after trading the first two and the game finished with a scoreline of 25-14, 22-25, 25-21, 25-18.

Tamil Nadu men, meanwhile, made a show of their firepower against Andhra Pradesh to win 25-23, 25-21, 25-17.

Karnataka once again owed it to their young recruits — Deepak Shetty and Pawan — who not only attacked well but also blunted the Gujarat offences with some smart work.
