KOLKATA: Top-seeded Sayantan Das continued his winning run and joined two others in the lead with 6 points after as many rounds in the 22nd The Telegraph schools chess at the Gorky Sadan here on Wednesday. S. Prasannaa of Tamil Nadu and local talent Chandrashish Majumdar joined Sayantan in the lead notching up emphatic wins as the competition crossed the half-way mark. Sayantan, of Scottish Church Collegiate School, beat Aubhropratim Manna of Don Bosco while Chandrashish Majumdar of St. Xavier's Collegiate School notched up an easy victory over Kaustuv Kundu of South Point School. Sixth-seeded S. Prasannaa of Velammal HS won a fine game against local challenger Sayan Majumdar of Indira Gandhi Memorial HS. Second-seeded Prince Bajaj of Delhi Public School, Ghaziabad failed to break the resolute defence of his opponent N.R. Vignesh of Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Tamil Nadu and was forced into a draw. The result pushed both players into second position. Important results: Aubhropratim Manna (5) lost to Sayantan Das (6); N.R. Vignesh (5.5) drew with Prince Bajaj (5.5); Kaustuv Kundu (5) lost to Chandrashish Majumdar (6); S. Prasannaa (6) bt Sayan Majumdar (5); Diptayan Ghosh (5.5) bt Akash Tewari (5); Sumit Kumar (5) drew with Aditya Chakraborty (5); Mitrabha Guha (4.5) lost to Aradhya Sekhar Bagchi(5.5); Protiva Talukdar (4.5) lost to Saurabh Mandal (5.5) . — Principal Correspondent
