Special Correspondent
CHENNAI: A two-year-old boy who suffered a deep stab injury when his mother tried to intervene in a scuffle at Thoraipakkam died on Wednesday.
According to police , Pakkiammal (50) of Karapakkam, a construction worker, helped Venkatesh (36) to get a job at a construction site where she works. A few days later, he accused her of taking Rs.150 commission from his daily wages and demanded payment of the money.
This led to an altercation between the two. Venkatesh, who was in an inebriated condition, tried to attack Pakkiammal with a knife. Her daughter Banumathi intervened. In the melee that followed, Banumathi's son Vadivel Murugan suffered a stab injury. The boy was taken to the Government Royapettah Hospital where he died. A special team arrested Venkatesh early on Thursday.
