Gang held

CHENNAI: A gang of eight persons, including a minor, who allegedly robbed autorickshaw drivers of their vehicles, was apprehended by the Thoraipakkam police on Thursday. Four autorickshaws were recovered from them.

According to police sources, a special team was formed to investigate complaints by a couple of autorickshaw drivers. It nabbed a 17-year-old boy at Thiruvanmiyur minutes after he stole an autorickshaw. His associates, who saw police, fled the scene. Interrogation of the suspect revealed that the gang was involved in the robbery cases at Karapakkam and Vandalur on December 8. Police arrested T. Aruldas alias Bonda (25), R. Suresh alias Rajasekar (19), R. Vinod Kamal (20), J. Venkatesh (20), B. Pradeep George (20), M. Annamalai (21) and R. Raghu (21) of Kannagi Nagar.
