VIJAYAWADA: The Tata Motors has launched its new LPT 3118 BS-III truck in the city market in a bid to bring within the reach of transport operators vehicles with latest Bharat Stage-III standards. These vehicles are stated to have features that provide operators higher mileage, lesser operational cost and greater durability of the engine.

M. Sateesh, regional sales manager, Tata Motors, said the new BS-III standards came into vogue in the country from October 1 even as the company had already introduced the new truck having these standards in the country's market. Already, 1,000 LPT 3118 BS-III trucks had been sold with the vehicle being launched in city now.

Stating this at a press conference organised as part of a tech show held at V.R. Siddhartha Engineering College ground, Mr. Sateesh said that the new vehicle was designed in such a manner that the operators would be able to save a lot on the operational costs. Earlier, the lorry owners used to lose up to 70 per cent on lesser mileage, performance of tyres and engine durability. “This vehicle is fitted with radial tyres which give effective performance. Moreover a strong engine is fitted,” he explained.

Tata Motors area sales manager (coastal Andhra) Ravi Upadhyaya, city truck sales manager Asnab Nandan and others were present on the occasion.

Mr. Upadhyaya said in tune with the increasing sales of Tata trucks, they were focussing on enhanced service to the customers as part of which they were opening additional authorised service centres at Kodad, Damacherla and others places in the region.
