VISAKHAPATNAM: Imagine a situation when you woke up from sleep one morning and were asked to vacate your house all of a sudden. This was the predicament of the residents of Vaibhav Hills Apartment at Marripalem VUDA Colony on Thursday. The tenants and owners of the flats rushed out of their homes as word spread that the building could collapse any time. Later, they gathered courage and went back into their homes to retrieve their belongings. Relatives and friends rushed to their rescue. An elderly woman was seen asking Kancharapalem CI K. Prabhakar whether it was necessary to shift all the belongings, which was an indication of the anxiety of the residents. MLC M.V.S. Sarma, who is in Hyderabad, saw the news on TV and asked his personal assistant Y.A.R.K. Prasad to go along with some other volunteers and render assistance. Prasad and nine other CPI(M) activists were seen helping the residents.
