HYDERABAD: Leader of the Opposition N. Chandrababu Naidu committed what appeared to be a slip of the tongue while reacting to the reply given by Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy in the Assembly on Friday by stating that “Telugu Desam is conducting the agitation for power”. Correcting himself later, he asserted that the Chief Minister, through his reply, did not meet any of his 23 demands and “his party, which was agitating, would include all these in its manifesto for the next elections and fulfil them after coming to power”. Seizing the opportunity, Revenue Minister N. Raghuveera Reddy shot back “your true colour is revealed. Why do you want to go on fast. You are power-hungry. It was in this manner only that you had deceived Indira Gandhi and NTR”. Mr Naidu crossed swords with the Chief Minister earlier, objecting to his remark that he had to release Rs 20 lakh of public money to reimburse the cost borne by the Maharashtra government to transport him and his Telugu Desam legislators by air back to Hyderabad from Babli site. The TDP leader said it was unfortunate that the Chief Minister was speaking in that vein with out any sense of shame when the TD MLAs tried to protect the self-respect of Telugus. He alleged that the Congress Government in AP had colluded with Maharashtra to harm state interests. The Chief Minister retorted “You don't talk here as you like. Talk as per your status. It is shameful you are speaking like this. Withdraw the remark”.
