Legal Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Justice N. Ramamohana Rao of the High Court on Thursday indicated that the State Government enhance the mess charges payable to junior doctors to Rs. 100 from the present Rs. 40 per day.

The judge was passing these orders in a writ petition filed by junior doctors, who complained that the mess charges of Rs. 40 were so low that it amounted to exploitation.

The money is meant for two meals, tea, breakfast, etc. The judge adjourned the case to next Friday and, meanwhile, asked the charges to be raised.

Writ plea admitted

Justice R. Subhash Reddy admitted a writ petition filed by Rakshana Steels challenging the orders of the State Government in withdrawing the earlier orders pertaining to Bayyaram mining area in Khammam district.
