Indian karatekas win 11 medals

Mumbai: An 11-member Indian karate team returned home with a haul of two gold, two silver and seven bronze medals in the third Asian Goju Ryu karate championship held in Kathmandu, Nepal earlier this month.

The gold medals were won by 12-year-old Payal Wagh and Adesh Gursale who bagged the individual kata titles, while Payal added the kumite bronze to her kitty.

The silver medal winners in kata were 14-year-old Parth Ajmera and 12-year-old Siddhanth Roashan.

The 2011 edition of the championship would be held in Chennai. — PTI
