Tap non-conventional energy, say experts

KARIMNAGAR: Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) Hyderabad Registrar G. Tulasiram Das has formally inaugurated the two-day national workshop on “SCADA and its applications” organised by the Jyothismathi Institute of Technology and Sciences (JITS) on the outskirts of Karimnagar on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, he stressed the need for generation of power by using natural non-conventional energy such as sunlight and wind power to meet the growing demand in the country.

Extensive use

Stating that the extensive use of coal for generating power would cause of extinction of natural resources, he said and added that the power produced through coal would cost Rs 15 per unit in future and also add pollution. He said that the world could produce about 1.6 lakh megawatts of power through non-conventional energy sources and also conserve environmental pollution from degradation of ecology.

Immense help

Retired AGM of BHEL (R&D) MP Soni said that the SCADA would be of immense help to control electrical sub-stations and power stations.

AP Transco ADE P Narender Reddy, NTPC Deputy Superintendent, electrical maintenance Ekambareshwara Swamy spoke about the components of SCADA, communication system and process control monitoring of power plants.

College chairman J Sagar Rao, principal AR Naseer, convenor V Bugga Rao and others were also present.
