VIJAYAWADA: Praja Rajyam Party president K. Chiranjeevi has urged the State government to shed its “indifferent attitude” towards farmers and start taking effective steps for providing succour to those whose crops had been totally damaged in the successive spells of heavy rains five times this year. Mr. Chiranjeevi blamed the political parties for what he described as a totally discouraging environment both inside the Assembly and outside to support any positive move to finding solutions to farmers' problems. “Every leader is trying to get political mileage out of this serious situation. I am very disturbed that no solution was found though the Assembly was in session for six days,” he said at a Meet-the-Press organised by the AP Union of Working Journalists here on Saturday. Mr. Chiranjeevi accused TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu of “not honouring” the agreement reached at a meeting of opposition parties to chalk out an action plan for a pro-farmer agitation.
