AIADMK cadre stage demonstration

TIRUCHI: A large number of cadre of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) staged a demonstration in front of the Khadi Craft here on Saturday protesting the proposed move of the Corporation to acquire the prime land belonging to the Tiruchi District Cooperative Milk Producers Union (Aavin) in Ariyamangalam to shift the Gandhi Market. They said the move was not in the interest of both the vegetable merchants and the union.

Led by P. H. Pandian, former Assembly Speaker and president of the All World MGR Mandram, the cadre, including a large number of women, raised slogans against the Corporation's move to acquire the Aavin land at throwaway price; and demanded not to shift the Gandhi Market from the present location.

R. Manoharan, secretary of the urban district unit of the party; P. Kumar, MP; K. P. Krishnan and K. K. Balasubramanian, both former Ministers; M. Paranjothi, MLA; Jayapal, district secretary of the Anna Thozirsangam and others participated .
