NEW DELHI: Mumbai completed the formalities at the Roshanara Club ground here on Saturday with a drawn encounter that eliminated Delhi from the Ranji Trophy. Mumbai finished with 24 points and Delhi a miserable 14.

Having secured the first innings lead and topped the group even before the result here, Mumbai, resuming at 487 for eight, built on the effort by Rohit Sharma and put on 493 in the second venture.

Beyond reach

The target of 560 was obviously beyond Delhi's reach and the home team struggled to avoid a defeat, finishing at 247 for six.

“I expected a closer contest and I was surprised by the ease with which we accomplished our mission.

“We were concentrating on preparing the combination for the knock-out round and I am glad that we emerged a far superior team here”, observed Mumbai coach Pravin Amre.
