Yeddyurappa said on Saturday that he had been subjected to too many acid tests by various quarters, including the Opposition parties. A concerted effort was being made to unseat him, he said, and added, “I have faced them bravely and overcome the hurdles with the blessings of the people. I have completed two and a half years as Chief Minister and will complete my term of five years.” Mr. Yeddyurappa was speaking after laying the foundation stone for the Veerashaiva Lingayat Panchamasali Jagadguru Peetha building on the outskirts of Harihar. Claiming that none of his predecessors had faced so many problems, he said, “I have a strong mind and the will power to tackle them. I will set right all the issues soon. I do not care for unfair criticism.” Most of the religious institutions in the State were serving the people in different ways. Some of them were providing quality education. Stating that he always respected religious institutions, he said there was nothing wrong in providing grants to them. Minister for Major Industries Murugesh Nirani, Food and Civil Supplies Minister V. Somanna, Revenue Minister B. Karunakara Reddy and MLA Shamanur Shivashankarappa spoke. Siddalingeshwara Swami of Panchamasali Math and Mahanta Shivacharya Swami were present.
