TRS seeks compensation for crop damage

Staff Reporter

ADILABAD: The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) on Saturday demanded compensation for crop damage due to heavy rains in the monsoon. The party demanded a scale of compensation that matched with the relief package meant for farmers who suffered losses due to the recent Jal cyclone.

Heavy rainfall

Addressing a press conference, TRS leader B. Goverdhan Reddy said the number of rainy days during the season had doubled to 90 against a normal of 40 to 50.

The leader said this prolonged period of rainfall had caused loss to standing cotton and soyabean crops.

The chilly conditions prevailing for the last few days were also causing damage to red gram crop, Goverdhan Reddy added.
