Goa ready for Liberation Day celebrations

PANAJI: Goa is entering the Golden Jubilee year of its liberation from the Portuguese rule on Sunday.
The State is poised to celebrate its Liberation Day with pomp and enthusiasm. Several programmes have been planned at the State, district and taluk levels by the Government.
Chief Minister Digambar Kamat will unfurl the tricolour in the city on Sunday morning . Awards will be presented to achievers in various fields.
The highlight of the 49th the Liberation Day celebrations will be the participation of over 2,000 students from various high schools in Goa. Besides, 600 students of 22 Bal Kendras attached to the Bal Bhavan will present a colourful cultural programme.
In the evening, Goa Governor S.S. Sidhu will hold the annual reception for dignitaries at the Raj Bhavan.
