Sudip and Vivek shore up Bengal total

KOLKATA: Bengal scored 269 for five at close on the opening day of the four-day Cooch Behar Trophy elite group ‘B' game against Madhya Pradesh at the Kalyani Stadium in Kalyani (MP) on Saturday.

A fine 87 by No. 3 Vivek Singh and an unbeaten 56 by skipper Sudip Chatterjee were the highlights of Bengal's innings. Andhra restricts Assam

Andhra restricted Assam to 152 in 79.4 overs in the Plate Group ‘B' match at Nagaon (Assam). Andhra, in reply, was 29 for no loss in eight overs.

Good spell by Vishwajeet

At Hyderabad, a fine spell by medium-pacer Vishwajeet Patnaik (five for 50) helped Hyderabad bundle out Haryana for 151.

Nitish hits ton

At New Delhi, Nitish Rana hit an unbeaten 122 (258b, 330m, 19x4) to guide Delhi to 245 for five in its first innings against Saurashtra.

Host Kerala was 232 for eight at stumps against Vidarbha at Thalassery on Saturday.

At Kalyani: Bengal 269 for five in 94 overs (Koushik Ghosh 55, Vivek Singh 87, Sudip Chatterjee batting 56) vs MP.

At Nagaon: Assam 152 in 79.4 overs (M.K. Gagoi 39, Ch. Sneha Kishore five for 33) vs. Andhra 29 for no loss in eight overs.

At Hyderabad: Haryana 151 in 52.5 overs (Rahul Dalal 70, Vishwajeet Patnaik five for 50, Akash Bhandari three for 13) vs Hyderabad 69 for no loss in 36 overs (D. Ashrith batting 33, Shahbaaz Tumbi batting 27).

At New Delhi: Delhi 245 for five in 96 overs (Nitish Rana batting 122, Jaideep Chauhan 57, Sandeep Kaushik 36, J.N. Makadia three for 44) vs Saurashtra.

At Thalassery: Kerala 232 for eight in 91 overs (Vinoop Manoharan 55, Akshay Chandran batting 47, H.H. Arora four for 59, G.G. Balerao three for 39) v Vidarbha .
