Fog disrupts train schedules

NEW DELHI: Though the weather in Delhi remained moderately cold with the sun shining during daytime, fog cover in the morning disrupted train schedules with about 40 trains from or to New Delhi railway stations getting affected on Sunday, according to Northern Railway. Six trains were rescheduled while 30 others were reported running late by over an hour. One train, the Jansadharan Express between Anand Vihar railway station and Rajendra Nagar, was also cancelled on the day.

The rescheduled trains included the Janshatabdi Express from New Delhi to Dehra Dun while trains running late included the Malwa Express, Jammu Jamnagar Express, Jhelum Express and Magadh Express. According to the Meteorological Department, Monday is also expected to commence with mist and shallow fog in the morning, followed by mainly clear sky during the day. Meanwhile, on Sunday the Capital recorded a maximum temperature of 21.9 degrees Celsius, which was two degrees below normal. The minimum temperature settled at 8.5 degrees Celsius, which is one degree above the normal for this time of the season. The temperatures are expected to be at similar level on Monday with weatherman forecasting a maximum and minimum of 22 and 7 degrees Celsius respectively.
