Staff Reporter

Four persons, including a woman, arrested

CHANDIGARH: In a shocking incident, a 14-year-old Dalit girl of Jind district in Haryana was allegedly raped by four persons after she was abducted by a fellow villager. Police have arrested four persons, including a woman, in connection with the case.

The victim, a student of Class VI, was abducted on December 5 from Gangoli village and was taken to a nearby railway station where she was raped. Later, two young men, who have now been arrested, allegedly raped her and dumped her near a brick kiln in Jind, the Superintendent of Police, Ram Singh, said.

The unfortunate girl was again sexually assaulted after a youth under the pretext of helping took her to a woman's house in Panipat. The fourth alleged rapist then fled from the scene.

The women, Sona Devi, has also been arrested.

“We arrested Sona Devi, a widow, for knowing about the crime and shielding Vikas, who is absconding,” Mr. Singh added.

A case of rape and kidnapping has been registered against the accused.
