‘Avail welfare schemes'

TIRUCHI: Differently abled persons should improve their standard of living by availing themselves of the government welfare schemes, said Mahesan Kasirajan, Collector, here on Tuesday.

Speaking at an International Day of Persons with Disabilities here, he emphasised that differently abled persons should keep up their spirits to improve their economic and social status making use of the government schemes. In Tiruchi district, 2,958 differently abled persons were being given the monthly maintenance grant-cum-assistance of Rs.500. This apart, 3,788 differently abled persons were being given Rs.400 as pension after getting the benefit of age relaxation under the old age pension scheme.
