SHIMLA: The intense cold wave continued unabated in most parts of Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday but people in Shimla had some relief as the State capital was the warmest place with minimum temperature rising to 7.6 degree Celsius, four degrees above normal. Even Kalpa in tribal Kinnaur district recorded minimum temperature at minus 0.4 degree, three degrees above normal. However, Bhuntar, Sundernagar, Mandi and Solan reeled under cold wave conditions with the mercury at minus 1.3 degree, minus 0.4 degree, 0.2 degree and 0.5 degree respectively, three to four degrees below normal. Una in Shivalik foothills shivered because of cold wave conditions with the mercury staying at 2.4 degrees while Dharamsala and Palampur were in the grip of the cold wave with minimum temperature at 4.7 degrees and 4.5 degrees. Nahan in the lower hills also experienced the season's coldest night so far with the mercury dipping to 5.8 degrees , six degrees below normal. Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district recorded a minimum temperature of minus 6.1 degrees while the high-altitude tribal areas shivered under biting cold wave with minimum temperature ranging between minus eight and minus fourteen degrees. Shimla was warmer in the day also with the maximum temperature rising to 17 degrees while Una was the hottest during the day with a high of 22.6 degrees. Sundernagar, Solan and Mandi recorded maximum temperatures of 21.3, 21.8 and 21.8 degrees respectively, marginally above normal. - PTI
