Boy rescued from canal

CHENNAI: In a swift operation, the Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services Department personnel rescued a school boy who accidentally fell into a canal in Korukkupet here on Tuesday.

According to police, K. Deenadayalan (6) of Karumariamman Temple Street was walking along the railway track to school when he slipped and fell into the Buckingham Canal. Passers-by alerted the Korukkupet fire station.

Fire service personnel on duty reached the scene within minutes and rescued Deenadayalan.

He was given first aid and shifted to a private hospital.
