Bijapur: Former MP and Janata Dal(S) leader Basangouda Patil Yatnal has stated that the voters would support the Janata Dal(S) candidates in the taluk and zilla panchayat elections as the ruling BJP has lost voter faith owing to its false assurances. Speaking at a poll campaign at the party office here on Wednesday, he urged the party workers to convince voters about the party manifesto and promise them that steps would be taken to provide basic amenities such as roads, street lights and drinking water in rural areas if the party candidates are elected. Party leader Mallikarjun Yendigeri said the voters should be requested to elect leaders who can protect their interests instead of those who only made false assurances. Former zilla panchayat president Afsarabegum Chapparband, who is contesting on the party ticket from Golsangi, said that the voters would teach a lesson to the Congress and the BJP for neglecting backward classes and minority communities. They would support the Janata Dal(S) in the elections, she added.
