Pay hike for transport staff

CHENNAI: Employees of various State-run transport corporations can soon look forward to a pay hike, with the State government allocating a sum of Rs.521.45 crore on Wednesday in order to settle all outstanding issues.

More than 60 demands were placed before the government during the wage negotiation talks which concluded recently.

Transport Minister K.N. Nehru said that employees would get a salary raise of between Rs.2,000 and Rs.4,543, depending on their current grade.
