Chadha, Bajaj ousted

KOLKATA: Asian Games' team silver medallists Abhijit Chadha and Rahul Bajaj were eliminated from the match-play championship of the Goodricke East India amateur golf at the RCGC here on Wednesday.

Samaresh Sardar defeated Bajaj 5 & 3 and Chikkarangappa ousted Chadha 3 & 2.

The host RCGC had a field day putting four of its players in the quarterfinals. Unknown Suraj Ali, son of former professional golfer Asgar Ali, defeated Khalin Joshi of KGA, Bangalore 1 up thus creating a major stir. Young Rohan Shroff defeated veteran Gagan Verma 1 up.

Among the ladies, Vani Kapoor of DLF Golf & Country Club returned the day's best score of two over par 74. She had one double and three bogies against three birdies on the 1st, 12th & 15th. Gurbani Singh of Delhi Golf club was second with a five over par 77. — Special Correspondent
