Chennai: Indian Bank took only one day to complete an eight-wicket victory in the final of the TNCA first division two-day tournament over Parry's here on Wednesday.
Parry's, opting to bat first, was bowled out for 162 thanks to left-arm seamer V. Rajinikanth, who took six for 36.
Indian Bank got to its target in its 27th over, with play extended by half an hour, openers P. Satish (71, 63b, 9x4, 1x6) and southpaw V. Ganga Sridhar Raju (48, 52b, 7x4) putting on 101.
The scores: Parry's 162 in 66.5 overs (V. Rajinikanth six for 36) lost to Indian Bank 166 for two in 26.2 overs (P. Satish 71, V.Ganga Sridhar Raju 48) .
The Technip India Madras Gymkhana Club inter-club twenty20 tournament for the Singaram Trophy will be held between December 25 and 29, it was announced at a press conference here on Wednesday.
Twelve clubs from across the city will be divided into two groups in the initial round robin phase of the tournament. Two clubs from each group will then proceed to the semifinals.
Bonus points have also been introduced for the first time. Apart from Man-of-the-Match prizes for each contest, awards for the best batsman, bowler, fielder and the most promising player of the tournament have also been announced.
The tournament will be held at Amir Mahal, SPIC-YMCA and India Pistons grounds.
Present at the function were Vice President of Madras Gymkhana Club P.V.S. Vencatasubramaniam, CFO, Technip India R. Balaji, and GMS, Technip India, S. Ramachandran.
