Sathish Babu (left), founder, UniverCell, explaining the features of the redesigned store at Alwarpet to Ramesh Rangarajan, Director, Kasturi & Sons Ltd., on Wednesday. — CHENNAI: Mobile store chain UniverCell launched its redesigned Alwarpet store on Wednesday. The ‘live mobile store' allows every customer to feel, touch, analyze, and most importantly experience mobile phones. The redesigned store was inaugurated by Ramesh Rangarajan, Director, Kasturi & Sons Ltd. and K. Venugopal, Joint Editor, TheHindu and TheHindu Business Line. The store houses ‘Live' mobile phones and provides customers with hands-on experience. Based on research and consumer's frame of mind UniverCell Live has categorised the showroom into zones such as Listen (FM phones), Shoot (camera phones), Play (gaming and videos phones) and Connect (business phones). Sathish Babu, founder of the mobile store chain, said UniverCell Live was one of the first touch and feel concept stores in India. “It provides the consumers a holistic view of a mobile phone of his or her choice,” he said. Mr.Babu said their aim was to provide a retail experience that is revolutionary and cutting edge. “Customers are allowed to experience the mobiles without the help of sales assistants,” he said. The store has a music download station where customers could listen to tunes and then download it to their phone for a fee. It also houses a 3G kiosk.
