Tumour from pregnant woman's heart removed

HYDERABAD: Cardiac surgeons of Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) have claimed to have successfully removed a tumour from the heart of a pregnant woman, a press release said.
24 weeks pregnant
The 26-year-old woman, who was 24 weeks pregnant, was brought to the hospital with breathlessness and after evaluation; doctors detected a tumour in the patient's heart.
“The patient was connected to a heart lung machine that took over the function of the heart.
Then the tumour from the patient's heart was removed. The patient was then disconnected from the heart lung machine.
The mother and foetus are healthy and the patient has been discharged,” surgeons said.
Cardiac team of the hospital was led by doctors — Sameer Diwale, Dayasagar Rao, Sandeep, A.J and Murali Mohan.
