HYDERABAD: Indian National Lok Dal president Om Prakash Choutala has announced his party's decision to launch a massive national campaign on farmers' issues. The INLD will seek cooperation of like-minded parties in this direction to mount pressure on the Central government to ensure payment of remunerative prices to farmers who were resorting to distress sale of their produce. Farm sector was in crisis across the country as the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance coalition was encouraging “capitalists” which was evident from the spate of scandals that were surfacing. Mr. Choutala was here on Thursday to call on Telugu Desam President N. Chandrababu Naidu. Speaking to reporters later, he lamented that there was absence of measures to improve productivity of farmers by providing adequate power and water supply. He warned the Congress to act in time to provide relief to farmers failing which they would revolt . Expressing concern over the health of Mr. Naidu, he said the protest, however, was significant in that it paved way for emergence of a new leader at national level who could risk his life for the farmers' cause.
