Hoteliers' meet

Special Correspondent

VISAKHAPATNAM: The Visakhapatnam Hotels Merchants Association will conduct its general body meeting in the city on Sunday to elect new office-bearers and discuss the problems confronting it in the wake of soaring prices of essential commodities and vegetables.

Talking to media persons on Friday, Ch. Venkateswarlu of Chandra's (Nellore Mess), there were over 350 hotels (star hotels excluded) and sweet shops under the association. Quite a few were yet to be enrolled. “We will rope them in and strengthen our association to take up the issues. One burning problem is that although we are recognised as industry and paying PF, ESI and other benefits to staff, the Government is not extending benefits applicable to industry, he said.
