Rs. 20 crore additional allotment

ARIYALUR: An additional allotment of Rs.20 crore has been made for Ariyalur district under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, according to Collector T.K.Ponnusamy. Speaking at the farmers grievances day meeting here on Friday, Mr.Ponnusamy said already Rs.40 crore was allotted under the programme. However, given the backwardness of the district an additional allotment was sought. Utilising the funds works on clearing of silt from irrigation and inlet channels could be taken up, he said. Mr.Ponnusamy announced that a monthly grievances meet on power supply would be held from January. R.Pitchai, District Revenue Officer, and farmers representatives attended.
