BANGALORE: Hospitals accredited by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) have formed the Association of National Board Accredited Institutions (ANBAI) with a view to unite all accredited hospitals conducting “Diplomate of National Board” (DNB) courses in India into one credible, dynamic pro-active organisation. The National Board of Examinations was established in 1975. It is an autonomous body under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The degree awarded by NBE is called “Diplomate of National Board”. For the purpose of training and preparing trainee doctors, NBE issues accreditations to medical institutions in India. It also certifies eligibility for the examinations at the end of the training period. At present, there are more than 450 such accredited institutions in India. ANBAI intends to initiate student exchange programmes and academic affiliations to member institutions. It is headquartered at Bangalore Baptist Hospital, Hebbal.
