Ali to meet Vasudeva in final

KOLKATA: Unfancied Suraj Ali of Protouch Golf Academy defeated experienced Samaresh Sardar in the semifinals of the Goodricke East India amateur golf championship at the RCGC on Friday.

In the other semifinal, Karan Vasudeva easily beat Rohan Shroff for a meeting with Ali in Saturday's 36-hole final.

In the women's East India championship, Gowri Monga of Delhi Golf Club, playing a superb par round of 72, won the championship hands down with a total score of 11 over 227 (78, 77, 72).

Gurbani Singh with a total of 236 (77, 78, 81) took the second position. Tied at third were Mehar Atwal (85,79,77; 241) and Shraddhanjali Singh (79, 80, 82; 241).

Meghna Bal, Shreya Ghei and Vani Kapoor did not live up to expectations and ended tied fifth with 242. — Special Correspondent
