Government staff status sought

MADURAI: The Tamil Nadu All Cooperative Bank Employees Association (TACBEA) has called for according Government Staff status to cooperative bank and fair price shop employees with wages on a par with the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission.

This was among the several resolutions passed by the association during its State executive committee meeting here on Sunday. It was also decided to stage a State-level protest soon in Chennai if negotiations were not fruitful.

The association also demanded a new pension plan by creating a fund with financial contribution from State Government, Tamil Nadu State Apex Co-operative Bank, Tamil Nadu Co-operative Union and District Central Cooperative Banks.

The association also urged the Chief Minister to determine wages to these two categories of workers on a par with the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation. It also wanted the pay anomalies caused by Government Order 189 dated November 17, 2009 on Co-operation, Food and Consumer Protection Department to be set right.

State president N. Pandurengan presided over the meeting. General Secretary V.G. Jayamani moved the resolutions. Vice presidents P. Ramachandran and R. Mariappan, Treasurer K. Natarasan and joint secretary O.V. Moorthy spoke.
